Banned!

Little Miss Libby looks sweet and innocent, doesn't she? Well, it seems that her sick curosity now has her banned from using the computer in her class. It's not her fault, really. It's Ryan's. He's the one I really blame for this...not Libby. But, she is the one who is in trouble and banned indefinitely from the classroom computer. You are probably pretty curious as to what she did to get herself banned indefinitely from the classroom computer. Well, Libby decided to google "poop." Which, of course, brought up pictures. The news of Libby googling poop spread like wildfire through her classroom. She gained huge amounts of popularity points from each student in class...she was definitely the class hero after that. But still...she is banned indefinitely from the classroom computer. I still can't be mad at her. I actually nearly laughed out loud when I was told what happened. She gets this junk from Ryan. He loves to discuss anything disgusting with Libby - like poop, gas, etc. I try to tell him that she is a GIRL! A seven year old, blonde hair, blue eyed, girly princess little girl. But, apparently him being a great big boy trumps her being a girly girl and he continues to talk about things like that to her and this is where it got us. Banned. Indefinitely. I can't believe it!

Libby's field trip

Today the 1st grade classes took a field trip to University of Florida horse teaching unit to see their horses. That was right up Libby's alley because she loves horses. Above is a picture of my group today. :-) The children all enjoyed the field trip. It was a short field trip...we were back at school by noon and they got back to school work and I came home. I ended up doing something that I absolutely never do...I took a nap. For three and a half hours! I usually run on about four hours of sleep each night and it has really caught up with me. I was in desperate need of sleep and I had an afternoon off so I decided to sleep. I really should have been doing things like laundry and other housework but the sleep was very necessary so that is how I spent my afternoon. :-)

Book share

Tonight was the book share at Libby's school. The book share is where the children volunteer to write and illustrate their own book and then they are broken in to small groups through different classrooms at the school to read their books in front of a group of mixed grade students and their parents. She participated in it last year and I was so proud of my shy little Libby voluntering to read a book she wrote in front of a group of mixed grade children. This year she decided to do it again. She wrote another short book (the title is The USA is a Great Country!) and I'm so proud of her for getting back up there and doing it again this year. There were about 10 children in her group ranging in age from 1st grade to 5th grade. Libby was the youngest (again!) in the group. Just before the book share started we ran into her Kindergarten teacher who stopped and talked with us and then she had Libby read her the book. Then we saw Libby's current teacher (pictured above) who stopped and talked to us for a bit, too.
Today was also the last day of Libby's art class that she goes to every Thursday after school. She was sad that the classes are over...but they will be offered again in the fall when she starts 2nd grade (geez, 2nd grade??!!??) so she is already counting down the five months until the next classes begin!

Happy birthday Ryan!

Today is Ryan's birthday!!! The ladies that he works with made him a cake and sang Happy Birthday to him this morning which was very nice. Tonight on the way home Libby and I stopped and picked up his favorite cake - chocolate ganache. He got off at 4:00 today and when we got home (at almost 7:00) even though it was his birthday he had dinner ready for us. :-) Now that's a good man! :-) After dinner we brought out his cake and he was VERY happy - as you can tell in the picture of him practically worshipping the cake. :-)

And yes, it was as nasty and disgusting as it looks. ;-)

That was probably the most delicious cake that I've ever had!!!!! While I was checking out at the grocery store the cashier just kept going on and on about how delicious the cake was...at one point I was pretty sure she was about to open it and just start eating my cake right out of the box but she was some how able to restrain herself. Now I know exactly how tough it was on her to see that cake right there in front of her and her not be able to just start digging in to it!!

Libby made Ryan a very cute gift. She is always super thoughtful when it comes to picking out gifts. She has a great talent when it comes to picking out gifts for people. She is always very perceptive on things that sometimes I don't even pick up on (until she mentions it) or things that I thought she would never even notice. When I asked her what she wanted to give "Sweetboy" -as she affectionately calls him- for his birthday she thought for a second and then came up with this. She wanted to give him something that he could keep forever and then she thought that he needed a picture of the two of them for his desk at work. So, we got the photo frame and the mat and she wrote on it and then I had a picture of the two of them printed and she put it in the frame. He really liked it!

Happy birthday Ryan! :-)

It was Debbie's day!

Saturday was a day dedicated to Debs! :-) We started the day with the three Gainesville girls leaving Gainesville and meeting Debs at the tea room in Jacksonville for her birthday tea. It was a great tea room...the atmosphere was nice, the food was great, and the company was wonderful! It was just a great time.

From the tea room we left to do some errands and then headed to St. Augustine for Debbie's bachelorette party - her wedding is just a few weeks away on May 16th! We started the bachelorette party at Dawn's house because her back yard is the prime spot for something like this...they have a tiki bar in their back yard! Debbie's wedding colors are blue and brown so I made everyone a blue drink and we called it a Mansellini because her new last name is going to be Mansell. Cute, huh??? :-) After having a celebratory Mansellini and hanging out for a bit at Dawn's the eight of us headed out for dinner. We had a great time there! There was a live band playing and they noticed a big group of girls out together and asked what was the occassion. Debs told them that it was her bachelorette and they called her up in front of the whole restaurant and then started calling out men to come over and dance with Debs. I had fun watching it and I think that Debs had a fun time there. About 9:30pm we left the restaurant and headed to a bar in downtown St. Augustine. We unfortunately met up with an incredibly drunk guy there who managed to really put a damper on the evening. We ended up leaving there around midnight (I think...I really have no idea) and then we went back to Dawn's to hang out in her back yard. It was a fun night and that was our goal was to make sure that Debs had a great day! Now it's just 26 days to go until her wedding!!!!

Are you kidding me??

So, Miss Libby was sick with strep throat a few weeks ago. She was on antibiotics for 10 days and finished that up last Thursday. She has been perfectly fine lately...that is until this morning when she woke up with a scratchy throat. It didn't seem too bad and so we went to school. I was only scheduled to volunteer until 10:30 because I had a doctor's appointment today at 11:00. I left school and got a phone call that my doctor was having to cancel my appointment. Great. So, I went home. I was home all of five minutes when I got a call from the school nurse that Libby was in the clinic with a very sore thorat. She was crying because it hurt so bad and she wasn't able to eat any of her lunch. I left to go pick her up and called her doctor's office to see if she could be seen today. Normally if she had to come home with a sore throat I would just bring her home and have her rest but considering that she just had strep and had another sore throat I wasn't going to waste any time. They made her an appointment for 15 minutes later so I picked her up from school and we dr0ve to her doctor's office. They looked at her throat and did a rapid strep test. Yep, strep throat A.G.A.I.N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We left from there and went to get her the new medication that would hopefully fully knock out her strep and it dang sure better work...that medication was $143.98. That wasn't a typo...her freaking medication actually cost that much. Ouch. All I can say is that this better work!!!!

Spring Break

This past week was Miss Libby's Spring Break and we went to visit our friends Tara and Chad and their children Ethan and Olivia at Ft. Benning, Ga. We had such a great visit!! We were there from Sunday until the late afternoon of Friday. While there we kept quite busy and we also did lots of Easter activities. Libby, Ethan, and Olivia made cute little Easter bags, decorated yummy Easter cupcakes, dyed Easter eggs, and did an egg hunt. Also while we were there Chad took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese, there was a "Spring Break" day at their church where they went and watched the movie "Bolt" and played on the indoor playground at the church, we went to the Columbus Museum (which had a great children's area), and we spent a day at Callaway Gardens which was a beautful place. We had such a wonderful visit with them. We last saw them at Easter three years ago just before they were stationed at Ft. Richardson in Alaska so it was great to see them again and to get a chance to make more Easter memories with them.

I have a big announcement of something that happened on our trip...little Miss Libby got married!!! :-) She and Ethan decided to get married on Thursday. So, congratulations are definitely in order! :-)

Here is Ethan moving in for a kiss - but Libby wasn't interested at all!! :-)

Today was Easter and we had a nice day. We started out the morning with Libby waking up to find her basket that the Easter bunny left for her and then we got ready for church. After church with Ryan's parents we went to their house for Easter lunch and Libby and Ryan's niece Deandra had an egg hunt.

Tomorrow it's back to school for Libby and back to work for me. Ugh. I have a full week of work waiting for me when I get back tomorrow. At least I had a great vacation to make it worth getting a week behind at work! :-)

April Fools

Libby is feeling better...and getting stir crazy being trapped at home the last four days. She was upset that she wouldn't be at school for April Fools Day so this morning when I was making my bed she came in and asked if we could play a prank on Ryan by short-sheeting our bed. I obliged since she needs something to keep her occupied so that she doesn't go crazy. :-) He came home for lunch this afternoon and before he left to go back to work I told him that he needed to go lay down for a few minutes. Libby came in to "tuck him in" and when he saw that we had short sheeted the bed he played along and played it up and Libby dropped to the floor giggling. :-)

She wanted to play a trick on the cats, too. She wanted to use fishing line to make an "X" over the entrance to their cage and that way when they would try and jump in to their cage they'd bounce off of the fishing line. I didn't let her do it, but it did sound funny!! :-)
